3G iphone in the UK

Word on the grape vine is that Apple will not launch the 3G ipone here in the UK next week. Whats more than likely is that the 3g iPhone will be released in the UK following the planned release in the US. Which is annoying for us because the UK has a very large 3G user base and 3G info structure in place. Expect to see a heavy advertising campaign leading up the UK 3G iPhone launch.

Apple places order for 10 million 3G iPhones

We know that there will be a 3G version of the iPhone eventually, the question is when the second generation model will arrive.

Although a 2008 launch is seen as almost certain by many, when in the year the beefed up device will make its debut is a matter for speculation with May, and the iPhone’s anniversary in June, both suggested in the past.

Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney, who is the firm’s iPhone expert, says according to rumours he has “become aware of in Asia” Apple has already placed orders for 10 million 3G iPhones, suggesting the launch will be sooner rather than later.

In a phone interview with iPod Observer, Dulaney speculated that the 3G version would boast an OLED screen. Not a strong rumour for the next-gen model, but logical in the sense that it would save some of the energy that the power hungry 3G chip would drain.

All rumours and speculation for now, we’ll keep you informed…

The Apple iPhone is now starting to appear for sale in some places. Amazon are now offering an unlocked iPhone from £419.99. We will be posting many more places to buy unlocked iPhones from in the next couple of days.

It may be of interest to some that the Apple iPod touch 16GB is also avialble from Amazon for £266

The Apple iPhone is still to be launched exclusively on O2 tariffs and on the 9th of November. O2 will be restricting sales to 2 per customer though! The iPhone will only be available from O2 direct, Carphone Warehouse and Apple direct. But we hope to find some more places for you to buy an Apple iPhone should shortages become a problem.

The apple iPhone 02 tariffs have remain the same as in out previous story. Although we have noticed that special roaming rates are also included

Apple iPhone on Orange

“France Telecom chief executive Didier Lombard said he expects the situation regarding its Orange unit’s exclusive deal to market Apple Inc’s new iPhone mobile phone to be resolved by the end of November,” Thomson Financial reports.

“Lombard announced on Sept 20 that Orange had been selected as the operator to distribute the iPhone in France, but Apple has not yet confirmed this and press reports have suggested he may have irritated the US group by announcing a deal too early,” Thomson Financial reports.

There not the same o2 tariffs that are available with other mobile phones. A quick check on o2’s website confirms that £35 would usually get you 600 minutes and 500 texts, and so on. But you don’t get the coolest gadget this side of Christmas.

Apple iPhone out November

Apples CEO Steve Jobs has announced that new iPhone will be released in the UK on the 9th of November. The mobile will be available on the O2 network only. The iPhone will be available from O2, Apple and carphone warehouse.

The price of the phone has been announced as £269 on a minimum term 18 month contract. The monthly service plans will cost £35, £45 and £55 but will include unlimited data. The price will also include access to 7,500 WiFi hotspots.

Forget ipods, xbox360, PS3 and Wii! The huge success of the iPhone in USA has people predicting the iPhone to be this Christmases must have gadget.
